Learning at Holly Tree

When you drop your child off at Holly Tree,
rest assured that they will be learning and growing!

Because we are "Center-Based", you'll see learning in many areas.
Our classrooms have Math Centers, Science Centers, Writing Centers,
Dramatic Play Centers, Block Centers, Art Centers, Sand and Water Centers,
and more! Each Center helps build specific skills, and the skills built in each center
overlap! Click this link for more information on how Early Childhood skills
develop in Center-Based preschools: http://www.state.tn.us/education/ci/earlychildhood/
and the additional link to find out how the curriculum we use here at Holly Tree,
High Reach, coordinates with some of those Developmental Standards:

Check out some of the ways we build skills (and have fun)!!!

Holly Tree Happenings

There's so much happening here at Holly Tree during February!

Love is in the air--and not just for the children! Sometimes parents need to feel the love too!
We're sending two lucky Holly Tree family members out for Valentine's Day

Our child-decorated hallways could charm even Cupid!

Valentine's Day means more than "love" here at Holly Tree!
It's a chance to talk about relationships, learn vocabulary, cut
with scissors, talk about history, measure all kinds of "stuff",
get creative, use our imaginations, and work together! Wow!
Learning opportunities abound and we use them all--
while having fun!

For interesting and developmentally appropriate Valentine's
ideas for younger children, such as infants
and toddlers, check out this link from
Zero to Three's website:

It also gives great ideas for every other month of the year!

We love special moments at Holly Tree, and we have plenty of them!
It doesn't have to be a "special occasion" for something special to
happen as you can see below--
What a treat to share a favorite book with friends!
That's what we call special!

Stop by Holly Tree to see just how special we are!

Preschool Is About Friends!

From Infants to School-Agers, our Program here at
Holly Tree considers the importance of developing
friendships. Yes, we learn math concepts, science
procedures, and explore creative processes, but
friends are important, too! Learning about self,
learning about others, and learning to
develop relationships are a large
part of what being a child is all about.

Check out this article and it's Social and Emotional developmental fact sheets:
It may help you better understand (or remember :) what it's like to be a kid!

Our pictures below will help you see how
friendships grow at Holly Tree!

Showing interest in others is the first step!

Feeling part of a group deepens connections to others!

Shared activities create conversations and smiles!

Working together is interesting!

...and productive, wow!

Shared interests mean shared goals!

Growing with friends is important--and fun!

Fitness Fanatics at Holly Tree

January is all about health at Holly Tree! We're focusing on exercise and healthy foods all month as we gear up for our Branches Bolt Tiny Marathon that will occur January 28th. Our marathon benefits Branches, a ministry that benefits Never Grow Up children, workers, and families. Find out more about Branches here: http://www.hollytreechildcare.com/branches-ministries.html. A special guest joined us for a Fitness Fanatics kick-off party and got everyone up and moving! Fitness sure feels good!

Our very own Predators mascot, Gnash, surprised everyone with exercises and autographs!

Everybody's ready for fitness and fun--thanks Gnash!

We're also focusing on Pretend Play. Pretend Play isn't only fun, it encourages development is a variety of areas. For more information about the benefits of Pretend Play check out this article from Scholastic:

Our Fabulous School Age Program!!!

Welcome to before and after care the faith, family, and fun way!!!

We nicknamed our school age room the "Tree House" because that's where all the action is!
Ms. Carmen, also our Children's Minister, takes pride and pleasure in caring for our oldest children and helping them develop important skills that these young students need.

They explore through Art and Science:

They build! Building is play that also builds mathematical principles:

They make friends! That encourages the development social skills:

And they smile!

So does Ms. Carmen!

Our school age program focuses on the needs of children 5 through 12.
We provide activities that will help your child succeed!

We also provide transportation to and from Lakeview Elementary and are a drop-off/pick-up location for students attending Thomas Edison Elementary.

Come experience Faith, Family, and Fun with us!

Thanksgiving Lunch!

Over the past week, we have such good times sharing a delightful meal cooked by our cook, Ms. Gina and also Ms. Vela. On the menu, we had carved turkey and gravy, cornbread stuffing, green beans, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, rolls and pumpkin pie!!
It was absolutely delicious! We had several families join their children for a special time. It is such a great thing to witness the connections between home and school being made.
We also had our three year old class visiting all the other classrooms telling about the pilgrims and Indians.
All in all, it was a wonderful day. Many new families got to spend time getting to know other families.
We even gave away many door prizes, including a Starbucks gift card!!

For more information about all the activities we have going on at our center, please visit our website at www.hollytreechildcare.com
